Mass Education and Development in Asia (MEDIA) is a not-for-profit organization formally registered under the Indian Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 on November 2, 1992, marking a key milestone in its mission to uplift marginalized communities. However, the organization’s journey began earlier with modest yet impactful health and hygiene awareness campaigns in the slums of East Delhi. These early efforts laid the groundwork for MEDIA’s long-term commitment to using informal education, cultural initiatives, and various mass media platforms to bring marginalized groups into the social mainstream.
MEDIA focuses on health, education, and women's empowerment, implementing various literacy, vocational training, nutrition, and health programs.
Over the past three decades, the nonprofit organization has expanded significantly, forming partnerships with numerous prestigious institutions. It has produced over 50 documentaries and supported feature films to raise awareness of critical social issues.
